Willie Klaus, 73, of Nokomis, passed away on March 17, 2026, with his loving wife, Sue, by his side. He was born in Orange, TX, to Willie Klaus Sr. and Peggy Jean West Klaus.
Willie moved many times throughout his childhood being a military kid. As an adult, California was his home for many years. He loved the ocean and everything it had to offer, whether that be fishing, scuba diving, or boating. Willie married Suzanne Aitken and many years later she passed away. He later remarried Susan Miller in 2011. They moved to Nokomis to build their life here. Willie gained a big family in the bargain. He absolutely loved his grandkids and would brag about them on every occasion. During the summer, he could be seen driving his lawn mower and pulling his cart down the neighborhood streets of town waving at everyone he passed. He never met a stranger and was loved immensely by those who knew him. He is deeply missed.
Surviving is his wife, Sue Klaus, six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his sister, Debbie (Buzz) Nelson of Seabeck, WA, and his brother, Donnie (Jennifer) Klaus of Farmer City, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Suzanne (Aitken) Klaus.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held at this time.
