Wayne Lynch, age 86, of Witt, Illinois, passed away on November 23, 2025, at Rose Garden of Pana. He was born on June 13, 1939, in Wayne, Michigan, to Benton Lynch and Doris Nealey. Throughout his life, Wayne was known as a dependable, steady individual who valued family, work, and the routines that brought him a sense of purpose.
Together Wayne and Shirley McArthur built a blended family that remained an important part of his life. He was a member of the Christian Church of Witt, where he maintained a quiet but steady connection to his faith. Wayne spent 25 years working as a truck driver for Caulk Trucking, a job he approached with reliability and professionalism. His work ethic and commitment earned him the respect of those he worked alongside.
Outside of his career, Wayne enjoyed simple, hands-on hobbies that reflected his appreciation for everyday life. He spent many hours fishing, tending to his garden, and “junking,” often searching for items that caught his interest. Above all, he valued time spent with his family, and he especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his children: Allen (Evelyn Steel) Lynch of Hillsboro, IL; Jeff Lynch of Hillsboro, IL; Teddy Lynch of North Carolina; Christopher (Faith) Snider of Washington; Sonia (Troy Shurtz) Hodson of Witt, IL; Monica Florence of Witt, IL; Greta (Dorman) Akers of Witt, IL; John McArthur of Witt, IL; and Kimberly (Aaron) McCarty of Irving, IL. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his sister; Linda Powers of Auburn Hills, MI.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lynch Blevins; his sons, Benton Lynch and Wayne David Lynch; his brothers, Theador Lynch and Lee Roy Rister; and his sisters, Doris Lynch and Norma Selinski.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wayne will be remembered for his steady nature, his commitment to family, and the practical way he approached life. His presence will be missed by those who knew him.
