Virgil Wayne Barringer, 91, of Ramsey, peacefully passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield surrounded by his children.
A celebration of life will be held from 9 am until the time of service at 11:00 am, June 14, 2025, at South Fork Church, 1431 E 100 North Rd., Nokomis, IL. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Virgil was born on October 13,1933, on a farm in rural Montgomery County, IL to Kenneth and Vera (Christian) Barringer. He married Josephine Herzog on April 7,1957, at South Fork Church. He served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer and loved to spend time fishing at his daughter’s pond.
He is survived by children, Jerry (Linda) of Nokomis; Ken (Kim) of Rosamond; and daughter Marcia of Ramsey. Grandchildren, Jerry (Katie) Barringer of Normal, IL, Charles Barringer of Nokomis, IL; Josh (Omega) Barringer of Princeton, TX; Kenna (Alex) Henderson of Maryville, TN; Chad (Ashley) Towler of Brownstown, IL, Travis (Jo) Towler of Plymouth, OH. Great-Grand Children, Zane Henderson of Maryville, TN; Fred and Adrian Towler of Brownstown, IL; and Aubryanna Towler of Plymouth, OH.
Including his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Darrel Barringer and sister Betty Schniepp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Fork Church.
