Velora A. (Hagemeier) Cummings

Velora A. Cummings, 90 of Litchfield, IL formerly of Nokomis, IL passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 9:54 A.M. at the Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care in Litchfield, IL.

She was born on December 5, 1931 in Pana, IL a daughter of the late Alvin and Irene (Wolters) Hagemeier.

She married James R.  Cummings on January 13, 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2006.

She graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1949 and retired after 33 years of being an elementary school secretary for the Pattonville School District.

She was a member of the Emmanual Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MO and Concerned Women for America. Velora spent a majority of her time volunteering for various family organizations and her church.

She enjoyed basket weaving, knitting, making washcloths and baby blankets for the grandchildren.

Velora is survived by her sons, Jeffrey L. (Judy) Cummings of Arvada, CO & Stuart J. (Catherine) Cummings of St. Charles, MO, daughter-in-law, Catherine Cummings of Rogers, AR; 18 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, James Alvin Cummings, sister Eula Jean Cesaretti. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis, IL. Pastor Chris Prumm will officiate. Burial will take place at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Nokomis, IL.  Visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Concerned Women for America.
