Ronald Brown Obituary

Ronald Joe Brown, age 78, of Witt, Illinois, passed away at his home with his family by his side on November 22, 2025. He was born on May 8, 1947, in Divernon, Illinois, the son of Zearl Brown and Edna Flicker.

Ronald married Monica L. Walker on December 20, 1965, in Taylorville, Illinois, and the two shared 57 years of marriage. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Pana Limestone Quarry, where he spent 20 years in the industry. Known as a dependable and hardworking individual, Ronald took pride in his work and built many strong connections throughout his career.

Outside of work, Ronald enjoyed a number of hobbies that reflected his appreciation for the outdoors and time spent with family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially treasured the role of being a grandfather. His grandchildren affectionately knew him as “Papa Superman” and “Papa Joe,” nicknames that stayed with him throughout the years and spoke to the bond he shared with them.

Ronald is survived by his children: Joseph C. Brown of Kewanee, IL; Lorree Brown of Nokomis, IL; Kelli (Richard) Crow of Witt, IL; and Kimberly Brown of Witt, IL. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Roni Blazich; Jacey Brown; Caleb Brown; Rhiannon Brown; Ali Brown; Troy Dorsey Jr.; Joshua Crow; Cheyenne King; Asia Bahn; Megan Crow; Channing Ishmael; Aubbie Taylor; as well as 39 great-grandchildren. Ronald is survived by his sisters Sharon Thomas, Connie Nichols, and Diane Bilyeu.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, Grandchildren, Michael Dorsey, Christopher Crow, his brothers Lonnie Brown, Greg Brown, John Brown, and Dennis Brown, and his sisters Carolyn Stokes and Ruth Brown.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be recorded.

Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Ronald will be remembered for his steady nature, strong work ethic, and the lasting impressions he made on those who knew him.
