Robert Carroll

Robert K. Carroll, 90, of Nokomis, IL, passed away on January 27, 2026, at Hickory Estates Memory Care in Pana, IL. He was born in Nokomis on November 11, 1935, the son of Davey and Hilda (Giess) Carroll. He married Nellie Oke in Newfoundland, Canada on June 11, 1955, and they spent many beautiful years together before she preceded him in death in 2013.

Robert proudly and selflessly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, an experience that shaped him throughout his life. Robert had a strong work ethic and dedicated 30 years of his life to working on the shipping floor for CAT. In his spare time, he enjoyed the simple things in life. He found joy in being outdoors and caring for his yard. He was an avid hunter in his younger days. Robert loved birds and raised pigeons and doves just so he could watch them fly around the home. Most of all, Robert cherished his role as a husband, father, and proud grandfather. His family was the greatest source of his pride and love. He will be missed dearly by his loved ones and all who knew him.

Carrying on his memory are his children: Ina (Frank) Conrad of Ontario, Canada; Lou (Dan) Wright of Nokomis, IL; Robert (Connie) Carroll of Vandalia, IL; grandchildren: Amanda Maraviglia of Ontario, Canada; Robert Maraviglia of Ontario, Canada; Bryant (Amber) Wright of Morrisonville, IL; Lucas (Kait) Wright of Pawnee, IL; Shane (Suzanne) Carroll of Germany; Michael (Colleen) Carroll of Colorado; Mindy Lou Carroll of Springfield, IL; Kala (Shane) Dugan of Vandalia, IL; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings: Bill Carroll of Gays, IL; Betty Bailey of Nokomis, IL; and Chuck Carroll of Litchfield, IL.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by his infant sister: Adrianna Carroll; sister: Heidi (Earl) Stauder; and two brothers; David (Judy) Carroll; and Ted (Delores) Carroll.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00-12:00 noon at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. A funeral service will begin at noon with Pastor Muench officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
