Richard "Dick" Yewell Umberger

Richard Yewell “Dick” Umberger  83, of Nokomis passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later day.  Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family.

Dick was born February 25, 1938 in Owaneco to Irene (Jones) and Yewell M Umberger.  He married Sherrill Popovich in 1957 in Hillsboro.  Richard was an over the road truck driver and also, worked for City of Nokomis.  He was an avid tractor collector and a member of the Old Tyme Collector’s Club of Pana.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Joseph (Ellen) Umberger of Taylorville, daughters Rebecca (Mark) Carraher of Taylorville and Christine (Loren) Compton of Nokomis;  sister Vicki Maedge of Staunton; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virginia Woodside, Betty Holliday, Lillian Kessler and infant brother Paul Umberger.
