Rebecca "Becky" Schweizer, 65 of Witt, Illinois entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 16th at Hillsboro Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Becky was born in Xenia, OH on February 1, 1960 to Claude and Elizabeth (Nell) Armstrong. She moved to Nokomis, Illinois at age 13 where she met her best friend, Kim Henschen. She
graduated from Nokomis High School in 1978 and went to nursing school. She married the love of her life, Dave Schweizer, May 24th, 1980 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis, IL, he survives.
She worked as a nurse for 46 years in many different settings including Taylorville and Hillsboro Hospitals, Golden Manor Nursing home in Nokomis, Litchfield Family Practice, and
finished her career at Montgomery County Health Department as a strong advocate for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Nursing was her passion and through her work she inspired many others to work in health care. There was never a dull moment when Becky was around and frankly, she would just "tell you how it is". So many lives were touched by her care and compassion.
In addition to her husband Dave, she is survived by her brother John (Mary) Anuci of New Lebanon, OH, Bob Armstrong of Sherman, Tx; Children, Amanda Payne (Cris Miller) of Witt, IL,
Angela Mahaffey(Joseph) of Vandalia, Il, Ashley Sanders (Matt) of Philo, IL and Allison Wood (Aaron) of Ohlman, IL; Grandchildren, Sean, Zane, Madelyn, Tucker, Konnor, Taelyn, Johnathon, Adaleigh, Leah and many nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Frank Anuci and Jim Anuci, sister Rose Jackson, and granddaughter, Scarlett.
Visitation will be at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral home in Nokomis on Friday, June 20th from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday, June 21st at 9 am. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Nokomis.
Memorials can be made in Becky's name to Montgomery County Cancer Association or PAWS Care in Hillsboro, Illinois.
