Olive June “June Bug” Black, 93, of Nokomis, passed away on Monday February 17, 2025 at Hillsboro Health, in Hillsboro, IL.
June was born September 13, 1931 in Flint, Michigan to William Isiah Black and Sarah Sumpter (Martin). She moved to Montgomery, Alabama and was a long time loan officer at a local bank and then worked as the executive secretary at Sarah Lee until her retirement. She was a member of the Athens Church of Christ in Athens, Alabama, cared deeply for her family and was a loud and proud hillbilly.
She is survived by two nieces Tammy Pickler and Peggy “Tootie” Johnson; a nephew, John Golitko; great nieces and nephews, Dwayne (Cat) Griffin, Michael (Jenn) Pickler, Steven Pickler, Vicki (Dustin) Dess, Dustin (Tiffany) Johnson, Jerod Johnson, and Matt Golitko; great-great nieces and nephews, Jordan and Kayla Griffin; Logan, Evan, Jacob, Temperance, Paisley, Angelyna Pickler; Jazzi Pickler; Zoey Dess; Racheal and Shelby Johnson; Alyson, Alyssa, and Briston Johnson; Maddison Golitko; four great-great-great nieces and nephews; and her friend Cathy Compton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William Isiah Black Jr and Sister-in-Law, Peggy Black; Niece, Crystal (Black) Golitko; Nephew, Joe Michael Pickler; and a great-great nephew, Axton Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday February 23, 2025 at 2 pm at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for funeral services.
