Mary Ann (Darnell) Cearlock 78 of Nokomis passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL, surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Frank and Gladys (Goldsboro) Darnell was born July 2, 1942 in Pana, IL.
She was the youngest of 6 children and lived childhood years in Ohlman and attended Nokomis schools. She married Larry M. Cearlock July 5, 1959. They had 3 children and later divorced. She worked many years at the Nokomis Town Pump Bowl, the Holiday Inn, Carlinville, and retired from Walmart, Litchfield. She was known for Mary Ann’s Pork BBQ, served locally and served the community by making the basting sauce for the Lions Club & Fireman’s annual chicken fundraisers . During her younger years she enjoyed traveling with companion Carl to tropical destinations. After retirement she was able to spend holidays and more time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed her time at home and always said she was “alone” but never lonely. She loved to work in her yard caring for her flowers and spending time sitting outside on her deck reading. Her good neighbor Linda Scott was always there to lend a helping hand when she needed something.
She is survived by her children Kimberly Noyes, Hillsboro, Kristy (Brian) Hayes, Nokomis, Kelly (Jamie) Cearlock, Taylorville, grandchildren Rachel Maretti, Litchfield, Rob (Stephanie) Noyes, Hillsboro, Katie Cole and Delaney Hayes, Nokomis, Kyle and Kennedie Cearlock, Taylorville, 2 step granddaughters Heather (Jason) Smith, Taylorville, Cara Noyes, Litchfield, 9 great grandchildren, sisters Joyce Schneider, Taylorville, Janice (Bill) Schaefer, Pana, Iris Estes, Springfield, MO., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Lester (Wilma) Darnell, Don (Lyla) Darnell, son-in-law Bob Noyes and longtime companion Carl Johnson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Aug. 26, 2020 in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis at 3:00 pm with burial in Ohlman Cemetery, Ohlman, IL. Visitation is from 1 to 3 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
She requested memorials be directed to Adopt-A-Pet, Benld, Illinois or the local charity of your choice..
