Kevin Laurie Obituary

Kevin M. Laurie, 69, passed away on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at 3:41 pm at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with his family by his side.

Kevin was born in Albuquerque NM the son of Ivan “Mike” and Carolyn (Pine) Laurie. He married Joan Vazzi on February 23, 2019 at the Nokomis Park, and she survives. He was the Co-Director of the Nokomis Christian Missions. He was a lover of all animals, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the St. Louis Blues. He also loved watching the fighting Illini. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his sisters, Javene (Rich) Willows, of Gillespe IL, Brenda (Scott) Korunka, of Mt. Olive IL; step-children, Gabe (Kristy) Cesaretti, of Nokomis, and Jamie (Kameron Nettemeyer) Vazzi of Nokomis; 5 step grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, several cousins, and his mother-in-law, Mary Jean Scheller.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, from 10 am until 12 pm. In celebration of his life, a Memorial Service will follow at noon, officiated by Reverend Jeff VanDyke and Fr. Michael Meinhart.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
