Jerilyn Broaddus

Jerilyn Sue Broaddus, 76, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on April 14, 2026, at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Virden, IL with her family by her side. She was born on September 23, 1949, to Louis and Eula Jean (Hagemeier) Cesaretti.

Jerilyn received her high school diploma from Nokomis High School as a member of the Class of 1967. She spent several years working at the Holiday Inn in Carlinville but ultimately found the most fulfillment in being a homemaker, where she dedicated herself to her family and home. Jerilyn attended both St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis.

Jerilyn had an extremely caring heart, along with a stubborn and sometimes feisty personality that made her truly one of a kind. She had a love for antiques and crafting, especially enjoying fixing and restoring pieces, something she continued to do until the very end. She took great pride in her home and in raising her children, and as her family grew, she became her grandchildren’s biggest supporter. She especially loved attending their sporting events and activities, always cheering them on. She will be remembered for her strong will, her caring nature, and the love she had for her family.

Surviving are her children: Mike (Emily) Broaddus of Bend, OR; Greg (Erica) Broaddus of Carlinville, IL; Shaye (Karri) Broaddus of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Chelsea Broaddus; Dustin Broaddus; Keagan Broaddus; Morgan Broaddus; Slater Broaddus; Traci Mengucci; Alexis Mengucci; Allison Broaddus; Madeline Broaddus; great-grandchildren: Lora and Jacob; as well as her brother: Mike (Judy) Cesaretti of Michigan.

Jerilyn is reunited in death with her parents, Louis and Eula Jean Cesaretti; her aunt, Velora Cummings; and her beloved dogs, Jordan and Annie, who proceeded her in death.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 am at Stiehl-Dawson funeral home in Nokomis.

Pastor Josef Muench will be officiating. 

Inurnment at St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family with arrangements.
