George D Shelton

George David Shelton, 79 of Witt, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

He was born January 28, 1943 to Everett and Mary (Baird) Shelton in Hillsboro.  He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and infant sibling, Richard Leslie Shelton.

George married Joyce L. Thomas on April 24, 1965 in Pana, IL.  To that marriage were born three children; Steven D (Kris) Shelton of Pawnee, Susan J. (Paul) Sarsany of Atlanta, GA and Everett Tom (Susan) Shelton of Litchfield.  (Son, Rick Luck from previous marriage).

Grandchildren are; Adam and Katarina Shelton, Abby and Grant Shelton and Andrew & Allison Sarsany.  Zach Luck, Kayla Lefler and Amanda Daugherty.  There are 7 Great grandkids; Addison, Peyton, Rylan and Colton Lefler, Regan & Rylee Luck and Margaret Daugherty.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sibling, Janet K. (Alan) Janssen.  George loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to their baseball, soccer and other sports events.

He drove for Martin's Supply of Witt, worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Decatur, Coffeen Coal Company and Crown III in Farmersville.  He was a member of Witt United Methodist Church and helped out with many church activities.

Visitation is Friday, April 1, 2022 from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M. at the Witt United Methodist Church.  Funeral services will follow and a dinner for everyone will be held in the church basement. Pastor Michael D. Lawton will officiate.
