Gale Marion Johnson, 85, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Huntsville.
Services for Gale Marion Johnson will be private family only, masks required with burial at Nokomis Cemetery, with military honors by Waples-Bauer Post 94, Nokomis American Legion. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home of Nokomis is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to Bremer Sanctuary, 194 Bremer Lane, Hillsboro, IL 62049 or Calvary Baptist Church, 1001 Rountree, Hillsboro, IL 62049.
Mr. Johnson was born October 16, 1935 in Montgomery County, the son of Sarah (Forbus) and Richard Johnson. He graduated from Nokomis High School. Following graduation, he enlisted and proudly served our country from 1954-1958. He and Barbara Cole were married May 20, 1961 in Nokomis and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2020. Gale retired from the State of Illinois as a Computer Operations Supervisor and after retirement he was a volunteer at Bremer Sanctuary. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Johnson.
He is survived by his children Darrin Johnson of Huntsville, AL and daughter Gaylynn Skelnik of Bartlett, IL; grandchildren Hannah Johnson, Grant Johnson, Ben Johnson and Luke Skelnik.
