Ellen M. (Kernich) Fullerton

Ellen M. Fullerton, 91, of Nokomis passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care Center at 10:05 P.M. 

Funeral Mass for Ellen Fullerton will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis,  Father John Burnette will preside and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.

Mrs Fullerton was born September 9, 1930, in Sewickley, PA. to Stephen and Mary (Karpovich) Kernich. 

She graduated high school. She and George Fullerton were married in 1957 in Mississippi and were the proud parents of G. Christopher Fullerton of Eden Prairie, MN, Anamarie Nelson of Chicago, IL., Stephen P. Fullerton of Grand Junction, CO, Amy S. Bratcher of Lohman, MO and Jeffrey T. Fullerton of Carbondale, IL.  She has 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

Ellen was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, for over 60 years and was a big supporter of the Church and School efforts. American Legion Auxiliary, C.C.W. and the St. Louis Church Quilters. For years she helped call bingo out at Golden Manor and always made an effort to stop in and say hello whenever she could. 

She was arguably the biggest St. Louis Cardinal fan in the area counted down the days from the time the season ended until spring training began. She was an ardent animal lover who supported many different charitable causes and foundations to help protect animals of all types. At home, her yard was a place where nearly any feathered or furry friend could get a bite as she stayed stocked up on peanuts, birdseed, cat and dog food so that none would go hungry. 

She was also famous for her $2 bills and scratch off tickets as she sent dozens of cards and letters to friends and family when a birthday or anniversary came around each year.
