Doris M. (Tarran) Yeske, 92, of Witt passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.
Doris was born March 5, 1931, in Kincaid, the daughter of Christopher and Charlotte (White) Tarran. She married Lemar R. Yeske on January 14, 1951, at the Witt United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2019, after 68 years of marriage.
Doris graduated from Nokomis High School and went on to work for Hedlund’s until its closure. She then went to Caterpillar where she ran a forklift until her retirement. Doris and Lemar also owned and operated Broadway Market in Witt for several years. She was a strong and active member of the Witt United Methodist Church. Doris cut out over 2,000 outfits for Sewing for Missions. She was a longtime member of the Witt Lioness’ Club, and she delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Doris’ greatest joy was her grandchildren and attending their sporting events, especially their basketball games.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Christopher Degg.
Doris is survived by her children, Susan (David) Tschopp of Oklahoma, Brenda (Jerry) Degg of Henderson, KY, Larry (Debby) Yeske of Irving, and Gary (Donna) Yeske of Witt; grandchildren, Kristi Stickler, Heather Ulmer, Kendra McSperritt, Kyle Yeske, Kassie Greenwood, Lisa Wolff, Eric Degg, Kelly Yeske, and Shawn Degg; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, at the Witt United Methodist Church, 213 N. 2nd Street, Witt, IL 62094.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the church with Pastor Jay Martin officiating.
Interment will follow the ceremony at Witt Cemetery.
