Della R. (Houchlei) Stokes

Della R. Stokes, 67, of Witt, passed unexpectedly at Hillsboro Area Hospital on Thursday, May 29, 2025. 

Della was born April 2, 1958, in Hillsboro Il to Leslie and Winifred (Compton) Houchlei. She married Charles “Charlie” Stokes on November 26, 1988 at Waveland Church. She worked for Echlin Manufacturing Company in Litchfield, IL for over 25 years as an office administrator. She was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Hillsboro and was a fantastic cook and skilled baker. What she loved doing most, however, was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her children, Jason (Amy) Wright of Manteca, CA, Richard (Jessica) Houchlei of Witt, Brandon (Michelle) Houchlei of Farmington, MO, Charles Stokes Jr., Nokomis, Kent Stokes, Springfield, Rebecca Stokes, Hillsboro, Tim Stokes, Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anita Martinez.

Della was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; a son, Mark Stokes; a daughter, Lisa Stokes; and a grandchild, Jeffrey Stokes.

Per her wishes a graveside service will be held on Friday June 6, 2025, at 1pm at Mt Carmel Cemetery in rural Ramsey IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for burial expenses.
