Darrell Keith Colonius, 85, of Edinburg passed away Saturday, August 24,2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Darrell was born in Hillsboro, IL on May 16, 1939, to Louis and Mary (Carriker) Colonius. He married Sharon Ramazzini on June 17, 1978 in Springfield, IL. Sharon preceded him in death on October 31, 2019.
A kind and caring person, Darrell did not know a stranger. He was very active in his church, serving as a building supervisor. Upon completion of his military service with the United States Air Force in the Korean War, he went to work for CIPS until his retirement.
In retirement Darrell continued to do the many things he enjoyed in his life, spending time with his family and his loving grandchildren, wood working, carpentry, and collecting coins.
Services for Darrell will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11AM at the Sherman Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM at the church. Burial will be at Kettelkamp Cemetery in Nokomis, IL following services.
Darrell is survived by his sons Brian (Cindy) Colonius, Richard (Michelle) Colonius and Dallas (Margaret Gleeson) Colonius all of Edinburg; sisters Martha Atkinson of Skiatook, OK, Lynda Hutchens of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Alison Colonius, Blake Colonius, Kristen Colonius, Lauren Colonius, Alyssa Colonius, Eric (Chastity) Colonius and Amanda (Thomas) Mazzotti; great grandchildren Braiden Colonius, Karlee Colonius, Bryce Mazzotti, Ethan Mazzotti, Tristan Mazzotti, and Everleigh Colonius. Arrangements are by Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis.
Preceding Darrell in death were his first wife Barbara (Hill) Colonius in 1977, Sharon (Ramazzini) Colonius, his parents, siblings; James Colonius, Lamar Colonius, Phillip Colonius, Mary Lou Huber, and Ruth Bowers.
Memorials can be directed to Sherman Church of the Nazarene.
