Darrel Charles Heldebrandt, 85, of Nokomis, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 1:37 PM at his home with his loving family by his side.
Services for Darrel Heldebrandt will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, May 6, 2022 at the funeral home.
Darrel was born December 7, 1936 in South Audubon Township to Carl H. and Violet Irene (Chastin) Heldebrandt and they preceded him in death. He was a Nokomis High School graduate and went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard for three years until his discharge on September 25, 1961. He and Sonja Ann Peters were married on December 15, 1957 in Taylorville and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Darrel loved farming, worked for Rosamond Coop Op and was a member of Audubon Township ATA (Anti-Theft Association), was 4-H leader and served his community when he was asked or as needed.
He loved being with his large family and friends. Sharing his knowledge of farming, canning, gardening, hunting and playing cards.
Mr. Heldebrandt is survived by his wife, Sonja; children Charlotte (Ricky) Edgecombe of South Carolina, Lee (Gale) Heldebrandt of Witt, Elizabeth (Terry) Roberts of Chouteau, OK, Jane (Morris) Johnson of Nokomis, Cathy Walker of Valdosta, Ga., Charles (Kim) Heldebrandt of Toledo, IL, Amy (Jared) Durbin of Nokomis, 18 grandchildren and 26 great granchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, brother, Eugene Heldebrandt and Elizabeth Rodden both of Nokomis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roy Heldebrandt
