Chris “Bud” Junior Johnson, 92, of Nokomis, IL., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Nokomis Rehab. & Healthcare, Nokomis, IL.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Nokomis with Pastor Bert Eickhoff officiating. Visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 am, Wednesday at the church. Burial in Nokomis Cemetery with full military rites.
Chris was born June 6, 1925 in Nokomis son of Ben C. and Anna (Gerhard) Johnson. He married Alice Huber March 30, 1949 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and she survives. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Nokomis American Legion.
A lifelong Nokomis resident Chris attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School, farmed in the Nokomis and Fillmore areas, and worked at Caterpillar in Decatur, working in several divisions ending in receiving and retiring after 31 years in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
Besides his wife, Chris is survived by three daughters Marsha (Michael) Matzke of Springfield, Cynthia Hoff of Havana, and Christine (Kevin) Roland of Springfield, grandchildren Amy, Jeffrey, John, Erin, Lisa, Andy, Clayton, Derek, Ethan, & Jared, great grandchildren Elizabeth, Ben, Alexandra, Claire, Justin & Joey.
He was preceded by his parents and siblings Fannie Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Margaret Bernhard, Warren Johnson, Lorene Lovell, Anna Marie McNeill, Darlene Hinton, William Johnson, Wesley Johnson and Harold & Darold Johnson in infancy
