Charles Brookshire

Charles Brookshire, 81, of Springfield passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital on October 22, 2022 due to complications of pneumonia.  Charles was born October 25, 1940, to Robert and Laura (Finn) Brookshire.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Dorothy (Elmer) Miller, Doris (Richard) Miller, Betty (Harold) Mindrup, Elsie Dangbar, a sister who died in infancy, and two brothers, Harold and Robert Jr (Meta Rose).  He is survived by one sister, LaDonna (James) Smith of Fredericksburg, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great, great nieces and great, great nephews.

He loved watching old movies, listening to gospel and country music, listening to online messages from Chancellor Baptist Church and when health permitted, traveling.

Charles retired from the State of Illinois - Bureau of Collections in 1998.  He also served in the Illinois Air National Guard.

A special thanks to Doug Bearup for his many years of friendship and wonderful care givinig.

Services were conducted by Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home and burial was in the Witt Cemetery after services.
