Carlos Elías Padilla Obregón

Carlos was born July 6, 1950 to Moises and Catalina (Obregón) Padilla on his grandfather`s cacao producing farm near San Antonio Suchitepequez, Guatemala in Central America, where he was raised. He went on to graduate from high school and completed a technical degree in automotive mechanics and completed 3 years of college. He and Angelica Monge were married May 12, 1973. He was a retired mechanic, bus salesman, and had an entrepreneurial spirit.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Carlos Roberto (Adela) Padilla of Guatemala, Angelica Lissette (Michael) Jones of Litchfield, Moises Estuardo Padilla of Nashville, TN, José Fernando Padilla of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Glorimania De León, Elsa Marina Perez, Luz Angelica Padilla and Odilia Diaz; grandchildren Roberto José Padilla, Lissette María Padilla, Charlotte Grace Hickman and American family Robert and Leticia Moomey.

Carlos will be remembered for his love of God, family, friends, and life in general. He was strong, but always a gentleman. He was proud of his Guatemalan heritage and always grateful of the opportunities America gave him, loving this nation dearly. Carlos truly realized The American Dream working and raising his family in Nokomis, IL. His mischievous smile would always light up a room. He was an artist at heart, a captivating story teller, had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his country/western and mariachi music, and was a passionate poet both in reciting and writing. His generous heart touched many throughout his lifetime. His home was always open to friends and family, never turning anyone away who needed help. He will be dearly missed and remembered with love by all of those who knew him well.
