Buck Dean Cole, 71, of Nokomis passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Healthcare with his wife and son by his side.
Visitation for Buck will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 5 – 7 PM at the Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Father Michael Meinhart presiding. Burial will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.
Buck Dean Cole was born June 12, 1953, in Hillsboro, Illinois to Glenn and Mary (Lewiski) Cole. He attended and graduated from Nokomis High School. Buck and Debbie Mikalauski were married November 18, 1978, and she survives. He worked for the City of Nokomis in various duties for over 17 years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Debbie and son, Joe. They shared that he will be remembered by all that knew him as hard working and had the biggest heart. Buck was gentle, loyal and generous. He loved his family and his community, and he would help anyone who needed it. His favorite thing to do was attending all of Joe’s basketball and baseball games and he also loved to fish. He grew up on “Hunkie Hill” where he spent many days playing ball, riding bikes and never coming home till the streetlights came on.
In addition to his wife, Debbie he is survived by his son Joe (Cindy) Cole of Panama City Beach, FL; siblings, Roger (Gail) Cole of Witt, Fred (Vanessa) Cole of Patoka, Brenda (Dick) Rompasky of Nokomis and Marla Cole of Nokomis, his beloved dog, Buddy and numerous nieces and nephews. Buck was welcomed home by those that passed before him, his parents, Glenn and Mary; sisters, Barbara (Cole) Johnson, Connie (Cole) Oke, brothers, Ronnie Cole and Jackie Wayne Cole, in infancy; nieces, Shona (Cole) Edwards and Bridgit (Rompasky) Hinds; nephews, Shane Cole and Matthew Cole.
