Brenda Tuetken, 85, of Nokomis passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab.
Brenda was born on December 22, 1939, in Hillsboro to Nels and Ethel (Wilson) Melin. She graduated from Nokomis High School in 1957 and as a Registered Nurse from Barnes School of Nursing in 1960. On September 25, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Lamar Tuetken, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2015. Brenda worked as an RN throughout Montgomery County in several healthcare facilities during her career. She was well known for her time as Director of Nursing at Golden Manor from 1971-1980, where she created a loving environment for both residents and staff. Brenda was a member of Witt Lioness, a die-hard Cardinal fan and rarely missed mornings with her “coffee crew” at The Depot. Her greatest joy came from time with her family and attending as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events as possible.
Brenda is survived by her children, Cristy (Greg) Camden of Chesterfield, MO, Bret (Lisa) Tuetken of Witt and Shane (Kami) Tuetken of Staunton; grandchildren, Abby Camden, Wil (Katie) Camden, Lauryn Tuetken, Jace Tuetken, Caidy Tuetken, Logan Tuetken, Kinsley Tuetken and Easton Tuetken. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister, LaDonna, brother, Carl Melin, and sisters in law, Joanne Naun and Shirley Melin.
Services for Mrs. Tuetken will be Thursday, May 15 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nokomis with Pastor Chris Prumm officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM, immediately preceding the service.
