Betty Lou (Barringer) Schniepp

Betty Lou Schniepp, 83, formerly of Nokomis, passed away peacefully April 21, 2022 at Oakmont of Riverpark Assisted Living Facility in Oxnard, California with her loving family at her side. Betty was born in Rosamond Township to Kenneth Wayne and Vera Irene (nee Christian) Barringer on February 23, 1939.

She went to Pana High School and graduated in 1957.  After working briefly as a

telephone operator for Illinois Consolidated, she married Robert Lester Schniepp on June 22, 1958 and became a homemaker and helped with work on the farm.

She enjoyed playing board games with family, laughing, and watching I Love Lucy, Monty Python as well as her favorite soap operas and westerns.

She was a lifelong member of South Fork Methodist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the ATA (Anti-Theft Association).

Betty is survived by her children, Melody Schniepp of Oxnard, California, Jim Schniepp (Ives Vidal) of Chicago and her beloved granddaughter Ellen Schniepp of Los Angeles, California.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Schniepp, parents Kenneth and Vera Barringer,  and brother Darrell Barringer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hillsboro Area Hospital.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Oakmont of Riverpark for their thoughtful and kind care of Betty and to Marty Dawson.

Visitation will be at 1:00pm at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home at 200 E State in Nokomis, Illinois with services to follow at 3:00p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022
