Betty Mae Franzen, 91 of Nokomis passed away Monday June 23, 2025 at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Hillsboro, Illinois.
Betty was born on March 18,1934 to the late Paul and Ursula (Kostelec) Blazich. She married Junior Franzen on April 11, 1953 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis and he passed away April 24, 2019.
After graduating from Nokomis High School, she married and spent years of her life on the farm as a Homemaker and Mother. She enjoyed the everyday chores of the farm life. She cherished the time spent with Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She loved bowling, playing cards with the lady’s club, dancing, serving her church community, and watching Cubs baseball. She was a member of the St Louis Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi and SNPJ Lodge 002.
She is survived by her three children; Michael Paul (Cindy) Franzen of Witt, Mark Franklin (Kim) Franzen of Aurora and Gail Marie (Kevin) Tuetken of Hillsboro. In addition, she is survived by Grandchildren; Christopher Franzen (companion Trisha Gaffner), Corey (Samantha) Franzen, Elizabeth (Jeb) Thackrey, Joshua Tuetken, Jeremy Tuetken (companion Bailey Heintz), Jordan Tuetken. Great Grandchildren; Brady Franzen, Harper Thackrey, Kinley Thackrey, Tristan Franzen and Gabrielle Franzen and a niece and many nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and Elbin “Beanie” Blazich, and sister Rose Pantalis.
Visitation will be at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis Tuesday, July 1st from 9-11 am with mass to follow. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Nokomis.
Memorials are suggested to St. Louis Catholic School and St. Agnes Pre School Fund.
