Barbara Sue Johnson, 80 of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs.
Private funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Pastor Jeff Hemken officiating. Burial will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born December 18, 1939 in Montgomery County to Mary (Lewiski) & Glenn Cole. She was a graduate of Nokomis High School. She married Gale Johnson on May 20, 1961 in Nokomis. She was retired from Graham Correctional Center and had also been a bookkeeper, secretary and seamstress who made beautiful quilts. She was member of Sew & Show Quilt and Rochester Guild.
In addition to her husband, Gale, she is survived by her children Darrin Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama and Gaylynn Skelnik of Barlett, Illinois; grandchildren Hannah Johnson, Grant Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Luke Skelnik; siblings Buck Cole, Marla Cole, Connie Oke and Brenda Rompasky all of Nokomis, Fred Cole of Patoka and Roger Cole of Witt.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Ronnie Cole.
