Anthony Maretti Obituary

Anthony “Tony” R. Maretti, 67, of Nokomis, Illinois, passed away the morning of Friday, December 23, 2022 in his home with his wife, Sonya, at his side.

He was born March 7, 1955 in Hillsboro to Julio (Bugo) and Bernice Murphy Maretti. Tony married Kimberly Cearlock in 1981 and they later divorced. He then married Sonya Bradley on December 31, 1992.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, attended St. Louis Catholic School, and graduated from Nokomis High School where his favorite classes were shop and automotive. His love for cars drew him to attend Lincoln Land and get his associates degree in automotive technology. A lifelong car enthusiast and resident of Nokomis, Tony worked as a mechanic at various locations and was a field tiler with R&R Drainage.

He was known for his generosity, and often helped fix his friends’ cars expecting nothing in return. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he always ensured they were safe and that their cars were in good repair.

He is survived by his wife Sonya, and his children Rachel Maretti (Matt) Worley of Coffeen, Raven Maretti of Bolingbrook, Luciano (Trisha Lehman) Maretti of Nokomis, and Allison Maretti of Nokomis. He has three step-grandchildren: Raegan Worley, Colin Worley, and Karlee Beaty. His surviving siblings are Francine Lloyd of Florida, Joe (Brenda) Maretti of Nokomis, and Julie (Darren) Hartry of Petersburg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Maretti, and his father, Bugo Maretti.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27th 9-11 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Fr. Michael Meinhart will preside. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Louis Catholic School or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
