Alice Jane Velten, 80, of Witt passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Hillsboro Rehab and Healthcare.
Visitation for Alice Velten will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM.until 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Witt. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Reverend Sheryl VanDyke officiating. Burial will at a later date at Mimosa Cemetery in Tennessee. Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.
Mrs. Velten was born October 3, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Grant and Lucy Jane (Sherer). After graduating from high school, Alice went on to earn her master’s degree in nursing at DePaul University and was the Director of Nursing at hospitals in Tennessee, Arkansas, S. Carolina and St. Louis, Missouri. She had also taught Adult Literacy. She and Willam J. Velton, her true love, were married for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2013. She was an active member of Sewing for Missions and the N.O.W. Club.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Richard) Taylor and Taylor Velten; grandchildren, Makayla (Dezron) Jones, Ayrlin Taylor and Collette Beasley; great grandchildren, Kalyn Jones and Kaden Jones; sister, Larry (Cookie) Schell and brother, Lloyd (Laura) Schell .
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Bowen; sister, Ruth Ann McKee and brother Jim Schell.
Memorial are suggested to the Sewing for Missions or the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
