Meta Rose Brookshire, 82, of Nokomis, IL, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 4:50A.M. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL.

She was born on August 16, 1935 in Nokomis, IL, a daughter of the late Dick B. and Mary Londa (Warnsing) Janssen.

Meta married Robert Brookshire on November 6, 1954 at St. Barbara’s and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1981.

Mrs. Brookshire graduated high school and went on to work the State of Illinois where she retired from the Children and Family Services Department.

She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church where she was also a member of the choir; St. Louis C.C.W. Meta was also a member of the Senior Achievers and a volunteer usher at the Sangamon Auditorium & U. of I. She was a past member and president of Montgomery County Right to Life and a past member of Primetimers.

Meta is survived by her sons, David (Penny) Brookshire of Rosamond, James (Gayla) Brookshire of Nokomis, Philip Brookshire of Champaign, & Steve (Mary Jane) Brookshire of Nokomis.; grandchildren, Ryan (Molly) Brookshire, Amber Brookshire, Tim Brookshire, Megan (Cory) Brookshire, Nathan (Jacquline) Brookshire, Daniele Brookshire, Matthew Brookshire, Lucas Brookshire, Nickolas King, Japeth (Alexis) King, Jennifer Standley, Kilbourne Brookshire, & Razi Brookshire; great-grandchildren, Haelee Damm, Emma Brookshire, Delaney King, Harper King, & Sophia Brookshire; sisters, Mary Ann Robinett of Raymond, Martha Kay Reed of Nokomis, & Margery Fay Al-Adobi .

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Susan Brookshire in 1973 and brother, Paul Eugene Janssen.

 Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday August 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, with visitation  starting at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery Nokomis. Arrangements by Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL.

Memorials are suggested ti St. Louis School.
