Ophia “Peggy” Johnson

Ophia “Peggy” Johnson, 68, of Coalton, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 2:15 P.M. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Peggy was born on November 22, 1947 in Moberly, Missouri, a daughter of A.B. and Armella (Westrich) Emerson.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church.

Peggy married Howard “Tiny” Spencer and they were married for 28 years before divorcing. She then married Robert “Babe” Johnson on October 18, 1995 in Coalton and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2013.

She is survived by her children: Becky (Ed) Derler of Nokomis, Robert Spencer of Nokomis, Bruce (Holli) Spencer of Nokomis, Barbara (fiancé Jason Anderson) Spencer of Kewanee; step children, Jamie Bechtel, Jared Johnson, and Jackie Johnson; grandchildren, Homer & Brianna Caldwell, Brittany & Brandon Spencer, Lacey & Jake Spencer, Kayleigh Anderson; great-grandchildren, Khole Spencer, Braylin Henson, Addison & Xander Bright; brothers, Lawrence “Skeeter” (Joyce) Emerson of Sercey, AK, Drury (Verna) Emerson of Coffeen, Raymond (April) Emerson of Nokomis; sisters, Edith “Irene” Allen of Nokomis, & Armella “sue” Reid of Nokomis.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, 2 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild, brothers, John Emerson & A.B. Emerson, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Pastor Steve Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Kettelkamp Cemetery in Nokomis.
