Everett “Red”Lyman Brooks

Everett “Red” Lyman Brooks, 78, of Nokomis, IL passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on August 10, 1937 in Weldon, IL, a son of Audrey L. and Katherine (Haycox) Brooks.

Mr. Brooks was a mechanic in and around Nokomis at several different places.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and camping at Sherwood Forest at Hillsboro Lakes.

He married Marjorie E. Miller and they later divorced. He then married Patricia Kamer on February 6, 1976 in Nokomis, IL.

He is survived by his wife and children, Christine A. (John) Hood of Dawson IL; Thomas E. (Sheila) Brooks of Mechanicsburg, IL; Nancy E. Brooks of Ramsey, IL and Step-son, Kelly Jo Cochern; grandchildren, Bobby, Brian, Jennifer, Rebecca, Brittany, Nathan, Natasha, Niccole & Janis; great-grandchildren, Anna, Bailey, Brody, Damien, Brayden, Bransen, Topanga, Elizabeth, & Sabastian; brother, Kenneth (Barb) Brooks of Oconee; sister, Patsy (Paul) Marley of Oconee, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Russell Wayne Brooks, a sister Delores Brooks and a brother Russell Brooks.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. Rev. Randy Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ohlman Cemetery in Ohlman, IL.
